Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry. by Darren Murph

Remember that downright futuristic BlackBerry we spied back in September? Say hello, all over again. RIM and Porsche (of all companies) have just taken the official wraps off of the Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry, a frighteningly beautiful new slab that offers up a forged stainless steel frame, hand-wrapped leather back cover, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, and "crystal clear touch display." It'll ship with an exclusive Porsche Design UI and a bespoke Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app experience, not to mention the "premium, exclusive PINs that help easily identify another P'9981 smartphone user." Fancy. As for specs, it's boasting a 1.2GHz processor, HD video recording capabilities, 8GB of onboard memory, Liquid Graphics technology, a microSD expansion slot, an inbuilt NFC module and BlackBerry OS 7. We're told that it'll be available from Porsche Design stores later this year, but mum's the word on the (presumably stratospheric) price. Hit up the More Coverage link below for T-break's hands-on vid.

Sony shells out $1.47B to buy Ericsson out of joint venture

Early this month word started to circulate that Sony was looking to buy out the Ericsson part of the Sony-Ericsson joint venture for smartphones. The company had previously announced that in 2012 its entire line would be smartphones on Android. The deal has been made official today with Sony forking over big money to buy Ericsson out of the joint venture.

Sony has paid $1.47 billion in cash to Ericsson and the former Sony-Ericsson smartphone line will now be folded into the Sony networked consumer electronics arm. When talks of the purchase first started to circulate the price range for the Ericsson share was between $1.3 and $1.7 billion and Sony landed pretty much in the middle of that range.

Sony and Ericsson will continue to work together and have plans for a new joint project that will promote wireless connectivity. Other than just grabbing the smartphone products, Sony also nabbed a bunch of patents in the purchase as well. Patents have turned out in some cases to be more lucrative for licensing than selling smartphones. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and is hoped to finish by January 2012.

English Court: Top Gear didn't libel Tesla. by Daniel Cooper

BBC's Top Gear (it's like The Engadget Show, but for cars) did not libel Tesla Motors when it reviewed the Tesla Roadster way back in 2008. Jeremy Clarkson's review showed the super-EV conking out after 55 miles of driving (a quarter of its expected range), suffering brake failures and an engine overheat that Elon Musk's company flatly denies ever happening. In the High Court, however, Mr Justice Tugendhat said that people could tell the difference between Clarkson's torturous, heavy-footed "powerrrrrrrrr" driving that goes on at Dunsfold Aerodrome, and the staid manner in which people drive on motorways. Tesla still maintains that the review has damaged its image, which is why it's also pursuing a claim for malicious falsehood, yet to be decided -- and on that bombshell, here's the original, legally non-libelous review for your enjoyment... goodnight!

Watch Now: Trailer For ‘Hostel: Part III’ Released. by The Movie God

Hostel: Part III

Did you know they were making a Hostel: Part III? Probably not. Those who do haven't spoken much of it, as the movie is getting the straight–to–DVD treatment and most folks don't care much for those types of films unless you're a revival–in–the–making Futurama movie or a little gem called Trick 'r Treat.
But for those of you who do have interest in the movie, this time being directed by Scott Spiegel who takes over for Eli Roth, you can see the first trailer below now.
Spiegel is a close friend of Sam Raimi, having gone to high school with him and Bruce Campbell as well as sharing a house with him, Joel and Ethan Coen, Holly Hunter, Frances McDormand, and Kathy Bates once upon a time. Imagine game night at that house. Spiegel hasn't directed much worth note (From Dusk Till Dawn 2), but he wrote Evil Dead II with Raimi and produced the first two Hostel movies.
